China's 'diving diva' Guo Jingjing calls it quits

BEIJING - Four-time Olympic diving champion Guo Jingjing is retiring, putting an end to speculation as to whether she would add to her impressive medal collection at next year's London Games.

Xinhua News Agency said Sunday that the "diving diva" has submitted her application for retirement to China's national diving team.

Online portal Sina.com quoted team leader Zhou Jihong as saying that Guo has made clear that she will no longer train or compete. Zhou said the team respects Guo's decision.

The 29-year-old Guo is among the most decorated divers in the world, with four Olympic gold medals and 10 world titles.
