At night Liu Jianguo conducts security patrols at a local hospital, but when it turns to daylight he acts like a real clown.
The 54-year-old, nicknamed Kaka, has become a regular sight freewheeling on the streets of Wuhan, Hubei province, entertaining people with his dazzling costumes, make-up and roller skates.
He is a member of the Hubei Happy Roller Skating Team who perform roller skating dance routines and parades.
He prefers to work night shift so he can dress up as a clown and perform on Wuhan's Jianghan Road, Guanggu walking street and Han Street.
Liu has been roller skating for more than 30 years and has always been infatuated by clowns. So, after taking part in a roller skating contest in 2011, he began making clown outfits from recycled materials such as waste cloth, quilt covers and mooncake boxes.
Liu and his five other family members live in a 47 square meter old house on Wuhan's Macao Road which is stuffed with clown outfits and different types of roller skates.
