The ongoing African Cup of Nations was marred by Egypt's stadium violence which has claimed 74 people's lives so far. But forget the tragedies for a while and concentrate on the soccer itself and the numerous soccer fans in Africa. For some turmoil-ravaged countries like Sudan and Libya, the tournament means much more than sports. It could bright strength and hope; it could restore national pride and confidence.
"The Libyan people understand football - they love the game," said Libya's midfielder Walid al-Katroushihe. "It's a long time since the country had something to smile and be happy about and that's up to us now." Now that, let's enjoy soccer and games, without thinking about politics!
