Comment on "Investment from Japan sinks as tensions persist" (China Daily, July 16)
In the long term, the development will ensure the decoupling of China's economy from Japan. Both sides will be hurt to some extent, but since China is boosting its domestic consumption and increasingly becoming an economy driven by internal demand, Japan will suffer a much bigger blow because of its huge aging population and domestic debt. Besides, South Korea and other countries can fill the gap created by Japan's "absence". But such a situation could, and should, be avoided.
