Urbanization must take into account the public interest, said an article in Beijing Youth Daily (excerpts below).
As a significant goal in China's social and economic development, urbanization attracts wide attention from authorities at all levels.
But sometimes too much attention is paid to infrastructure construction while ignoring public services.
If the development of urbanization exceeds local economic development level, it will eventually lead to huge debts.
China's GDP has become second largest in the world, but the developing model is not sustainable.
If local authorities blindly pursue urbanization, it could harm local people as services are ignored.
