The social supervising committee of the Red Cross Society of China said that they would no longer have any economic relationships with the RCSC. But more needs to be done, says an article in Beijing Times (excerpts below).

The committee was formed to supervise the RCSC against a backdrop of public concern following a spate of scandals.

However, the supervising committee itself had its integrity questioned leading to more public concern.

Far from being independent, supervising committee members are invited by the RCSC. This brings its whole rationale into question.

The supervising committee needs more reform, to be truly independent, if they want to win public trust back.
