The revision of the Consumer Protection Law will further protect consumer rights and boost domestic demand, according to an article in Beijing Youth Daily (excerpts below).
Encouraging consumption and expanding domestic demand is a government priority and revising this law will help achieve it.
For too long the consumption environment was less than satisfactory but rapid social and economic development means legislation must move with the times. Consumers have been disadvantaged groups compared to manufacturers and distributors.
The new law will enhance consumer confidence and this will benefit everyone.
