A new law on protecting consumer rights will be more comprehensive than existing legislation, an article in People's Daily says (excerpts below).
Consumers are protected when legislation moves with the times. Warranty guarantees, situations where money can be returned, truth in advertising products, all these areas will be covered under new legislation.
Consumers are more aware of their rights than ever before and this is a win-win situation. With better protection, consumers will be more confident in the goods they purchase, leading to more consumption.
Companies that fail to look after their customers properly will suffer the consequences.
