Dropping off and picking up children at school is not just a sign of parental love but may indicate concern over roads, says an article in Changjiang Daily (excerpts below)
In the absence of good roads and traffic management many parents take it upon themselves to bring and collect their children from school. It is not just the roads that are of concern. Instances of kidnapping, and attacks have been too frequent.
The roads and streets must be made safer but until then we will continue to see parent waiting outside schools.
