The international community should advocate security concepts to turn our global village into a stage for common development, says an article in People's Daily (excerpts below).

President Xi Jinping said in the just concluded Boao Asian Forum that peace is like the air and sunshine; we cannot survive without it but we do not always realize its importance.

China released the white-paper on the diversified usages of its military power, explaining clearly what kind of security China is pursuing.

Non-traditional threats have reshaped the meaning of security in the modern world. The concept of security does not only exist in the realms of the military but also in the fields of economy, politics, energy resources, communication networks, public health, etc.

Pursuing common security is in line with the interdependence of different countries in the era of a global village. No country can realize absolute security for itself through its own efforts. No country should base its own sense of security on the insecurity of others.

Promoting cooperative security is an effective way to realizing common security.

China has long promoted such mechanisms for world peace and security through its own actions.

John Kerry, US secretary of state talked about the Korean Peninsula issue and network security with Chinese leaders on his visit to China. These two issues should be solved through coordination, cooperation and dialogue, not violence or intimidation.
