Reliable quality and innovation are the foundation for Apple's "incomparable arrogance" in dealing with Chinese media's unfair criticism, says an article of the 21st Century Business Herald. Excerpts:

China's Central Television exposed in its investigative reports on March 15, the International Day of Consumer Rights Protection, that Apple has discriminated against Chinese consumers in post-sales services.

Apple's after-sales services far surpass the requirements of China's relevant rules. Chinese media are just selectively ignorant about the fact that although Apple's services in developed countries are better than in China, Chinese consumers enjoy one of the most user-friendly services from Apple.

Samsung, Nokia and Motorola have also demonstrated similar arrogance to Chinese consumers in their heydays. They can ignore the negative effects of their arrogance when they are popular. But their later declines were all accelerated by initial arrogance.

Apple was simply copying a similar process before its CEO Tim Cook revamped Apple's service polices in China on Apr 2. Thus, Apple has enough reasons to surpass its predecessors in history.

Innovation and reliable quality of Apple's products are the foundation for Apple's success around the world. Chinese media and quality inspection authorities should pay more attention to improve the overall service and quality standards of the whole domestic market, instead of scolding the No 1 enterprise in its field.

Media should defend consumers' interests through the most effective means. There are more angles to motivate Apple to do better, such as labor disputes and environmental pollution. But the media chose the least likely angle.
