Law needed to protect kids
Comment on "Girl commits suicide claiming parental abuse" (China Daily website, July 11)
I was so sad and angry about the news that the 13-year-old girl possibly committed suicide because of her parents' long-term abuse. From the last note she left and her classmates' words we know that her parents are suspected of psychically and mentally torturing her.
If true, what her parents have done is intolerable. I just can't understand why her parents treated the little girl so cruelly. The kid is too young to protect herself from her parents' abuse.
Children are not the belongings of their parents. Parents don't have the right to randomly abuse kids.
There should be a legal organization that is responsible for curbing domestic violence, especially toward children. The authorities and related legal organizations should protect children from domestic violence by law. We don't want to see such a tragedy happen again.
