Good to read about the elderly

Comment on "For retirement, not only age counts" (China Daily, July 2)
It was heartening to read the article, for it paid attention to the aging problem. It's sad that for most people, retirement is the first step toward boredom and death. It has been proven that people age faster after retirement.
I have worked abroad with many people in their late 60s and found them fit and clear in their thoughts. A lot of them said a job made them feel that they were useful, too, and needed by society.
But it seems that such people are fewer in China. I plan to work until I am in my late 60s or maybe more to make my life meaningful.
