Actress Lu Liping forwarded several micro blogs written by a priest, who is vehemently opposed to homosexuality, to her friends and admirers recently, and caused a stir on the Internet.

Many celebrities and netizens have expressed concern over the content of the micro blogs. This shows the discrimination and hatred that homosexuals face in Chinese society.

Lu has the right to express her ideas on sex and sexual partners. If people can have different views on other subjects, they can also differ on sexual orientation. But I do not support her opinion about homosexuals.

We live in a modern society where people have the right to choose their sexual partners. True love, in any form, deserves our respect.

We should know that homosexuals are people like us - just their sexual orientation is different. They should have all the rights that other citizens enjoy. If a person doesn't like homosexuals, he/she can simply ignore them as long as they don't disturb him/her. But no one has the right to insult or attack homosexuals just because he/she doesn't like them.
