Give rural students a fair deal

Comment on "Rural students deserve better" (China Daily, Feb 25)
I do agree with the view expressed in the article.
Independent enrollment in universities, which is different from the national college entrance examination, is a new trend in China that should be encouraged. The independent enrollment system, to some extent, can reduce the pressure that students taking the national college entrance exam face.
But urban students will enjoy an unfair advantage over their rural counterparts because of the imbalance on the distribution of educational funds and resources in China. So universities should reserve some seats for rural students to strike a fair balance.
