Comment on "Well-fed students get teeth into books" (China Daily, Feb 8)
It is good to read that the Chinese government is realizing the importance of nutrition in the lives of developing children.
In recent years, many public schools in the US have introduced free or inexpensive breakfast programs for students.
The students are offered not only an affordable lunch, but also a reasonably priced breakfast to those who come early. Students whose families can't afford the $1 or $2 meals are often given passes for free meals.
It is a shame that the wealthy, developed countries still have many residents who go hungry every day. I believe that taking care of the hungry, especially children, should be at the top of our priority lists, and it is very encouraging to see major steps being taken in the right directions.
