The leaders of many Taiwan schools recently visited Beijing to experience the capital city's education tourism resources.
More than 50 school heads from Taiwan participated in the familiarization program that was held from Aug 1-6, and it was organized by the Beijing Commission of Tourism Development, the Taiwan affairs of the Beijing municipal government and the Beijing Commission of Education.
The invitees were given tours of various schools and tourist spots in Beijing as part of efforts to boost greater cross-Straits ties in the fields of education and tourism, Song Yu, head, Beijing Commission of Tourism Development, said at a press conference here.
The capital will continue to host such programs for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao to enrich Beijing's tourism products and raise its culture image and international appeal, he added.
More than 250,000 Taiwan tourists visit Beijing each year.
