Who takes care of the children? Is it parents, grandparents or a daycare center? This is a question that concerns parents all across the world.

Each country has its own traditions or systems. Here are a few examples.

US: full-time mothers are not rare

In the US, many mothers willingly take on the burden of raising their children at home either because they cannot find a good job or because nursery fees are too high, the latter is more conspicuous. Besides, unlike some Asian countries, the US has no tradition of grandparents taking care of the children. The Pew Research Center revealed that in 2012, 29% of all mothers with children under the ageof 18 stayed at home, a figure that has steadily risen since 1999 when 23% of mothers were stay-at-home moms.
