More than 70 university professors and scholars gathered at Beijing Normal University on the morning of Sept 12, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its School of Art and Communication.
Participants reviewed the history of the school, which was first established in 1915 to teach drawing and music and then was re-founded in 1980 as an arts education department. Several alumni from the 1950s also spoke about their love for the university.
In 1993, the school joined with other organizations and institutions to launch the Beijing University Students' Film Festival. The annual event now attracts wide media attention and features famous directors and A-listers from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
