Huili county in Sichuan province will host its second international pomegranate festival from Sept 15 to 17. It is China's largest producer of pomegranate.
Located in the southernmost part of Sichuan, Huili is near Yunnan province. It boasts the best-preserved county seat on the ancient South Silk Road. During the Tang Dynasty, pomegranates from Huili were a tribute to the royal families.
With its pomegranate planting area covering 18,667 hectares, Huili is expected to have its pomegranate output reach 300,000 tons and its pomegranate farmers' income register 1 billion yuan.
