Passion for Porcelain

Fans of ancient ceramic art will be thrilled by an exhibition at National Museum of China. Titled Passion for Porcelain, the event is co-organized with the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum in the United Kingdom. It illustrates how Chinese porcelain works were exported to European countries and influenced porcelain industries there.

Part of the museum's centenary celebration, the show features more than 140 colored glaze porcelain, under-glazed porcelain, and over-glazed porcelain artworks.

The earliest pottery works were made 10,000 years ago in China and the earliest porcelain dates back at least 3,000 years ago. "The exhibition may give viewers a rough idea about the long history and splendid achievements of ancient China's porcelain-manufacturing sector," says museum director Lu Zhangshen.

9 am-5 pm, until July 31, (closed on Mondays and public holidays). National Museum of China, 16 East Chang'an Avenue, Dongcheng district, Beijing. 010-6511-6400.
