A Walk in the Clouds - not the romantic movie starring heartthrob Keanu Reeves - is the latest show by Chinese choreographer Ding Wei, which features a dozen ethnic dance numbers.
Ding, 55, has been engaged in ethnic dancing for 30 years and has created many gala shows.
"But this time is different," he says. "Every number is clearly an ethnic piece but none of them looks like those you see in the usual ethnic shows."
Audiences will see unique movements or steps of a certain ethnic group, cleverly woven into each other.
"One second, it is Tibetan and another, it is Miao," Ding explains.
7:30 pm, July 18, 19. National Center for the Performing Arts, west of Tian'anmen Square, Xicheng district, Beijing. 010-6655-0000.
