Qi Baishi (1864-1957) is known for drawing shrimp, and his student, Chen Dayu (1912-2001), is known for drawing roosters. More than 180 works created by Chen, a master of freestyle traditional Chinese flowers-and-birds painting, are on display at the Guangdong Museum of Art.
Also on show are Chen's landscape and figure-painting works, which are rarely seen by the public, in addition to his calligraphy and seal cutting works.
9 am-5 pm, June 20-July 15 (closed on Mondays). Halls 5, 6, 8-12, Guangdong Museum of Art, 38 Yanyu Lu, Ersha Island, Yuexiu district, Guangzhou. 020-8735-1468.
