About 440 wild bird species - as many as are found in all of Europe - live in Sichuan's provincial capital Chengdu, the Chengdu Bird Watching Society reports. The findings clinch Chengdu's spot among the cities with the most bird species in the country.
The figures were gathered during the 31st Chengdu Bird-Lovers Week.
The black-throated blue robin (Luscinia obscura) was added to the list after a sighting reported last year was confirmed by a film recording this year. It's believed to be the world's first video of the bird.
