Water Cellar for Mothers, a charity project that alleviates the burdens of mothers in China's poor rural regions experiencing serious water shortages, was promoted at the 6th World Water Forum on March 12 in the French city of Marseilles.
Qin Guoying, secretary-general of the China Women's Development Fund under the All-China Women's Federation, introduced the project's achievements and appealed for more support while delivering a speech about the project at the forum.
The forum was held ahead of World Water Day, which falls on March 22.
The water project, launched by Qin's fund in 2000, has invested than 600 million yuan to build more than 130,000 cellars and 1,400 small water supply projects, and solved drinking water problems for 1.8 million people in western China.
