The heritage sites of the Scottish 10 project are:
New Lanark, Scotland
New Lanark features a well-restored 18th century cotton mill village on the Clyde River in southern Scotland. It's famous for its well-preserved cotton-spinning mills and tenement-style housing built from local sandstone.
It was laser scanned in August 2009. The three-dimensional models, animations and illustrations have been done.
The Heart of Neolithic Orkney, Scotland
This is one of the most impressive prehistoric sites in Europe with standing stones, settlements, cairns and landscapes. It has a history of more than 5,000 years and is incredibly well preserved.
Scanning of the site began in August 2010 and has finished.
St Kilda, Scotland
As the remotest part of the British Isles, St Kilda is west of the Outer Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland.
Scanning has finished.
Edinburgh Old and New Towns, Scotland.
Scanning is under way.
The Antonine Wall, Scotland
One of the United Kingdom's most important Roman monuments was the Roman Empire's northernmost frontier.
Scanning has not started.
Mount Rushmore, the United States
Sculptures of former US presidents are carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore near Keystone, South Dakota.
The site was scanned in 2011.
Rani Ki Vav, India
A famous stepwell situated in Patan town, Gujarat in India.
It was scanned in 2011.
Eastern Qing Tombs, China
Scanning will start in October 2012.
Japan's site is yet to be selected.
The last site will be chosen by a global online vote.
