BEIJING -- China's top quality regulator found six kinds of substandard mooncakes following examination of nearly 300 different products.

High bacterial content was found in mooncakes produced by several companies, including Lanzhou Tianshengyuan and Changchun Jiangbo Food Company, the regulator said. Those mooncakes included brand names Meishile, Jinlonghuanle, Fushile and Tianshengyuan.

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said on Wednesday that 299 kinds of mooncakes produced by 289 companies had been checked in recent weeks.
