Screenwriter Deng Yu-kun, married to veteran actress Leanne Liu, is suspected to have fallen to his death at about 4 am on Monday at his Shanghai residence, after trying to adjust his outdoor satellite TV antenna.

Police, however, are investigating whether he committed suicide. The 51-year-old Liu had previously admitted arguing with her husband before the accident, over her busy working schedule.

It is also rumored that Deng suffered from depression. Liu came to national prominence in the 1980s.

A variation on the "I've-lost-a-phone" story is doing the rounds at the moment, with boy band Sodagreen's Greeny Wu at the center of the storm.

Mystery shrouds screenwriter Deng Yu-kun's death

According to China News, the lead singer from Taiwan province has been flirtatiously messaging a guy since the beginning of June.

The SMSs between "Tsing-fong" (Wu's Chinese name) and the guy include lines such as: "Are you free?" and "I won't rap to you anymore!"

The messages became increasingly spicy, so much so they are unsuitable to be printed in a family newspaper.

The unidentified man who "Greeny" is said to have been communicating with claims he chatted with him on the telephone and on web cam.

Greeny's agent confirmed the messages were from his phone but explained that Greeny had actually left the mobile with a friend, thereby suggesting that it wasn't Greeny who sent the homosexually charged messages.

There seems to be a fashion of phones going missing recently, with Hong Kong model Phoebe Hui "losing" her mobile, which conveniently had nude pics on them that were later uploaded onto the Web.

Still in Hong Kong, the big story is still soap opera actor Nicholas Tse's divorce from celebrity wife Cecilia Cheung.

Apple Daily is saying Cheung signed her divorce papers on Tuesday, formally ending the five-year marriage. According to the paper, she is demanding that her two sons have their names changed from Tse to Cheung as part of the settlement and wants the division of the couple's assets to be handled by the court.

Tse, on the other hand, is said to be willing to give HK$250 million (US$32 million), or half of his assets, to Cheung, in return for a clean break.

TVB actress Shirley Yeung is rumored to be pregnant after splitting with her boyfriend of nine years and hooking up with Andy Ng, a member of Beijing Diving Team.

The website 67.com is saying the child is Ng's, but apparently Gregory Lee is still keen to stick by Yeung, even if she is pregnant by another man, which shows a devotion beyond the call of duty - as Yeung appears desperate to move on.

Ng reportedly sent a message to Lee thanking him for looking after Leung for so many years, adding: "I will be good to her and protect her, and please give us your blessings!"
