Project to unearth filmmaking talents
Singer He Jie's latest job is to scout for new filmmaking talents.
She has joined a project initiated by M-maker.com, a platform set up by Shanda Interactive Entertainment Limited and Hunan TV for wannabe filmmakers to share their works.
She will soon release a list of possible subjects for short films. Web users can also submit their stories and the chosen one will be adapted into a short film by professionals, which will be screened on the website. The writer stands to win 10,000 yuan ($1,530) as a reward.
The website plans to invite more stars to join the project.
Catch docu about CPC pioneers on CCTV-7
To mark the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Pioneers' Charisma, a documentary on model Party members was shown on CCTV-7.
Comprising six episodes, each 45 minutes long, the documentary took a year to complete. It is a joint effort of the Political Department of the Navy and provincial governments of the former revolutionary bases areas, including Jiangxi and Sichuan province.
Combining firsthand details of, and exclusive interviews with, a range of outstanding Party members, the program details their efforts to overcome their challenging circumstances.
Taiwan singer tours mainland with album
Taiwan singer Rachel Liang Wen-yin toured Beijing and Shanghai recently with her new album, Valentine & Friend. The 24-year-old, who was runner-up at Taiwan's highly rated singing competition, One Million Star Season 2, showcases her singing talents in her third album. Her debut album Love Poem, and second album Love Poem II,won her a huge fan following across Taiwan. Born in southern Taiwan, Liang was drawn to the music of the indigenous people of the island at a young age.
Pandora jewelry now in World Trade Center
Denmark jewelry label Pandora has opened a boutique store in Beijing's luxury hub, China World Trade Center. Actress Li Xiaolu was invited for its opening.
The store offers a whole collection of Pandora's creations. The label is famous for its mix-and-match style. Consumers can choose from more than 800 handmade silver and 14-karat gold hangers, to create their own bracelets. Pandora is represented in more than 10,000 stores in some 50 countries and regions.
Show Luo promotes Xiamen clothing label
Taiwan entertainer Show Luo collaborated with casual wear label Dancing Wolves, to film a video clip for the label, and did a "flash mob" show with hundreds of his fans in Beijing.
A flash mob refers to a performance where many people who appear suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual act for a brief time, and then disperse.
Luo says a flash mob is a good way to relieve stress, and this is the idea behind the label he is promoting. Having launched its spring/summer collection recently, the Xiamen-based menswear has also put its whole collection on Taobao.com, China's largest online shopping portal.
