Million-dollar studio launched to encourage creative artworks

NEW YORK –A“multimillion-dollar” studio to produce and distribute multimedia works for emerging artists worldwide was launched by the Creators Project, jointly sponsored by the Intel Corp and VICE, on Wednesday night in Lower Manhattan.
The studio aims to transfer artists’ works or performances into multimedia visual albums, artwork and films. The contents will be distributed by the studio through various channels including traveling international exhibits, museums, concerts and digital performances.
An inaugural set of works by the studio will show up at this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April.
Since its debut in 2010, the project has helped young artists to expose to international audiences through touring events in seven cities worldwide, including Beijing, Sao Paolo, London, Seoul and New York.
The longest three-day event happened in Beijing’s 798 Art District last year on Sept. 17-19.
The venue for this year’s touring event in China has yet to be determined, but it is scheduled for September, John Galvin, director of Intel’s Partner Marketing Group, told China Daily.
He said they have “very positive” response for last year’s performance in China as Chinese audience showed great interest in American and Brazilian artists, such as the Interpol, in addition to local artists .
The video content of last year’s touring events was viewed over 55 million times online. About 13 million were from China, Galvin said.
