Twenty overseas associations of Chinese restaurants from 15 countries recently signed a strategic agreement with the Beijing Tourism Industry Association and Beijing Overseas Exchanges Association, to promote the capital's tourism resources abroad.
The associations include the America Chinese Restaurant Alliance, the Chinese Restaurant Association in Italy and the Union of Asian Cafes, Hotels and Restaurants in France.
Beijing's vice-mayor Cheng Hong said the popularity of Chinese cuisine abroad make the agreement an efficient way to promote Beijing as a destination in overseas Chinese restaurants.
Song Yu, head of Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development, introduced Beijing's tourism resources and customized tour products at the conference.
Besides leisure resorts, museums and theaters, overseas travelers can join the traditional Chinese medicine tours in the capital, to go sightseeing and see a TCM doctor for health check.
Meanwhile, the commission is determined to work during the French Open and Wimbledon Championships to promote Beijing as a destination, to attract overseas visitors to watch the 2015 China Tennis Open in October.
