6.2-magnitude quake hits New Ireland region

SYDNEY - An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale jolted New Ireland region, Papua New Guinea at 0050 GMT on Monday, the US Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 34.50 km, was initially determined to be at 3.2134 degrees south latitude and 150.6716 degrees east longitude.
