KIEV - A Ukrainian doctor has been killed and his wife seriously injured in the western Libya city of Misurata, a Foreign Ministry official said Thursday.

"A few hours ago, we got the terrible news from Libya that the Ukrainian doctor was killed there and his wife was seriously injured," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Voloshyn.

Meanwhile, the spokesman said Ukraine evacuated 19 nationals from Misurata on Sunday.

Voloshyn said the unsettled situation in Libya was giving cause for concern. However, some Ukrainians still have not expressed a desire to return home despite numerous requests from the government and the Ukrainian embassy in Tripoli.

The Foreign Ministry has strongly recommended that its nationals keep in touch with the embassy in Tripoli, which stands ready to provide maximum assistance for their safe movement, Ukraine officials said.
