Russian Air Force conducts large-scale drills

MOSCOW - Russian strategic air forces started large-scale two-day exercises on Tuesday, Russia's Defense Ministry said.

According to the ministry, the strategic long-range bombers Tu-160, Tu-95MC, Tu-22M3 and flying fuel tankers Il-78 have taken part in the drills.

A total of 45 warplanes, including fighters MIG-29, MIG-31 and SU-27, participate in the drills .

During the drills, the crews practise air-to-air missile launches, refuelling operations and team work, the ministry said.

The exercises are conducted over Baltic, North and Black seas, Interfax news agency reported.
