MINSK - Power blast in Minsk metro ranged from 5 to 7 kg of TNT, as a result of the explosion crater with a diameter of 80 cm was produced, Belarusian Interior Minister Anatoly Kuleshov was quoted as saying by the presidential press service on Tuesday.

According to the officials, the explosive device was under a bench on the platform opposite the second carriage of the train moving from Victory Square to Independence Square.

"The bomb was packed with metal balls with a diameter of about 1 cm. At the time of the explosion there were about 300 people at this area. At the same time in the opposite direction another train was moving which was forced to proceed without stopping," as said in presidential press service.

Now the screening of all departing and entering the Republic transport is organized. Under the special attention are the borders of Vitebsk, Mogilev and Gomel regions. Law enforcement agencies in public places, railway stations, airports were transferred on a strengthened type of work.

Minsk city officials are ready "as soon as possible" to restore the subway, but at the station "Oktyabrskaya" trains will not stop.

It was decided in the next few days to limit the country's entertainment events and April 13 is declared as a day of mourning.
