EU further extends restrictive measures on Libya

BRUSSELS -- The European Council decided on Monday to extend restrictive measures to further persons and entities in Libya.

The travel ban and the freeze on assets are extended to another 11 persons and the assets freeze is applied to a further nine entities.

On February 28, the EU agreed on a package imposing restrictive measures against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. The sanctions include an embargo on arms, an assets freeze and

Visa ban on Gaddafi and members of his family and others involved in suppressing opposition protests.
