Robot manufacturing base to upgrade area's industrial competitiveness

The construction of a robot industrial production facility in Shenyang was announced on Oct 16.

Located in Hunnan district within the area of the free trade zone, the facility covers an area of 42.5 hectares, with a total investment of more than 5 billion yuan ($768.32 million; 639.01 million euros; ￡568.52 million).

The facility has already attracted a large number of interested enterprises in the fields of robot manufacturing, artificial intelligence and high-end equipment. It aims to lay a good foundation for an industrial development platform with essential technologies.

According to officials, the industrial base will facilitate a group of companies engaged in the research and production of industrial robots and special use robots, as well as robot servants to catch up with the surging robot industry.

Siasun Robot and Automation Co, whose group headquarters is located in Shenyang, is a listed enterprise belonging to the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is one of the initiators of the base.

At the kickoff ceremony, Qu Daokui, president of Siasun, said that the company will integrate its own advantages and resources to promote major high-tech projects that will be launched at the facility, which would be constructive in upgrading the competitiveness of local scientific research and industrial production in the city.
