The plan for the Sino-German (Shenyang) Intelligent Equipment Manufacturing Park, which is a national-level cooperation project between the countries, was released at the first day of the China-German Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Forum in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning province, held on June 12 and 13.

According to the plan, the park with a total area of 48 square kilometers will focus on smart manufacturing, advanced machine manufacturing, automobile manufacturing and industrial services. Sino-German street, the principal axis of the park, is expected to be completed in September.

The forum was co-hosted by the Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce and the Liaoning Provincial Bureau of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Themed, "Cooperation with Germany for Mutual Success", the first day of the forum had three main activities - a news conference on the Sino-German (Shenyang) Equipment Manufacturing Industry Park, a Smart Manufacturing Round Table Conference by the Sino-German Economic Consultant Committee and a China-Germany Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Forum.

The second day was spent visiting factories in the city that use intelligent manufacturing.

About 400 officials and investors from China and Germany attended the event and expressed their interest in the park.

Germany is the most important economic and trade partner of Shenyang.

Trade volume between the two exceeded $5 billion in 2014, ranking Germany first among all 178 trade partners of the city.

Currently, as many as 136 German companies have invested in Shenyang.
