The king has no castle

The Amur tiger is the largest subspecies of tiger and is primarily found in the Russian Far East and Northeast China. It came close to being extinct but its population has rebounded and about 450 are alive today.

Population and distribution

Amur tigers were once found throughout China's boreal forests, the Russian Far East and the Korean peninsula. The subspecies is now restricted to the Sikhote-Alin range in the Primorski and Khabarovski provinces of the Russian Far East, and possibly small pockets on the border areas of China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
