The fourth installment of the Hollywood blockbuster Transformers franchise has cast four young Chinese actors through a reality TV show, which will air on CCTV's Movie Channel on August 31.
The four Chinese actors will play supporting roles in the Michael Bay film Transformers 4, which will premiere next year.
The Hollywood studio Paramount began the film's casting process with CCTV's Movie Channel in April. About 10,000 hopefuls participated in the contest by submitting their audition videos online. The reality TV show will focus on 12 shortlisted actors who had already passed two preliminary selection rounds.
For the reality show, the contestants acted in short dramas, faced different challenges from the judges and demonstrated individual talents.
The reality show's panel of judges included producer Lorenzo DiBonaventura, Megan Colligan, Paramount's marketing and distribution chief, Sid Ganis, former head of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, and Liang Longfei, vice manager of M1905.com, the Movie Channel's official website.
The four actors selected from the reality show won't be the only Chinese actors to appear in the film as two established Chinese thespians Li Bingbing and Han Geng will also have supporting roles.
