The 9th Hua Ding Awards opens in HK

The 9th Hua Ding Awards presentation ceremony and the results of "China Film Satisfaction Survey 2013" were unveiled at the Kowloon Bay International Trade & Exhibition Centre on Wednesday night, thrilling the audience with the presence of Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korean celebrities.
The show co-hosted by comperes Huang Zijiao and Xu Gehui was launched in the city for the first time since its debut in 2007 in Beijing. Winners of as many as 20 exciting awards were announced at the event.
Hong Kong police film "Cold War" co-directed by Sunny Luk and Longman Leung waded into the competition en route to the Best Film Award for its international horizon and enthralling plot, beating other strong rivals including "A simple Life", "Lost in Thailand" and "Chinese Zodiac".
Among a list of acclaimed actors like Jackie Chan and Tony Leung, 32-year-old Nicholas Tse won the Best Actor Award for his superb subtlety and prowess in the mystery film "The Bullet Vanishes" directed by Law Chi-leung. Special guest and renowned actress Si qin gao-wa lauded him a man of backbone whose passion for movies should serve as the best model for the new generation of actors and actresses.
Fan Bing bing, a mainland actress famous for her chic style and diverse works, prevailed over other vigorous candidates for the laurel -- Tang Wei, Miriam Yeung and Gao Yuan yuan, and nabbed the Best Actress Award, a great relief to her avid fans. Her mature performance in the psychological thriller film "Double Xposure" directed by Li Yu received good reviews. The theme song of the suspense movie "As far as I can remember" sang by singers Li Daimo and Ji ke jun-yi got the Best Film Score Award.
