The cinema inside the Eastern Suburb Memory Park in the outskirts of Sichuan's provincial capital Chengdu recently opened Southwest China's largest IMAX screen. The hall can hold 488 filmgoers. Chengdu reported 400 million yuan ($63 million) in box-office receipts last year, ranking fifth among the countries' top 10 cities in box-office revenues. It has hosted international cinema events, including the European Union Film Festival.
