Unseen footage from The Beatles' 'Magical Mystery Tour' showing them going to a fish and chip shop captures the "fabulous world" of the band at the time "perfectly".
Unseen footage of The Beatles' captures the "fabulous world" of the band "perfectly".
The legendary musicians - Sir Paul McCartney, George Harrison, John Lennon and Ringo Star - are seen behind the scenes of their 1967 film 'Magical Mystery Tour' in the new, never before released clips, which will be shown on The Space.
The short film takes the audience on a magical coach trip with the Beatles from the virtual Hotel to Newquay, stopping en-route at a traditional British fish and chip shop.
Editor of 'Arena', Anthony Wall said: "Few people have seen Magical Mystery Tour in its entirety and the material in the chip shop has never been shown anywhere.
"It captures perfectly the fabulous world of The Beatles at this time. They're happily rubbing shoulders and sharing a simple meal with the other passengers on the coach, and at the same time creating an extraordinarily avant garde film, which of course would soon be broadcast by the BBC to a dumbstruck nation."
The 'Magical Mystery Tour' was first aired in 1967 as the main feature of the BBC's schedule on December 26, where its psychedelic elements confused many of its audiences.
Apart from a muted appearance on BBC Two in 1979, it has not been shown in full on television since.
Exclusive clips from the film can be seen at today (02.10.12) on The Space at thespace.org/items/a0000gmj
