Adele 'hesitant' about singing Bond theme

Adele has admitted she was intimidated by the idea of singing the 'Skyfall' theme song, but decided it was a "no-brainer" in the end.

Adele was "hesitant" about singing the new James Bond theme song.

The 'Someone Like You' hitmaker has admitted she was nervous about being asked to perform the all-important track, but was won over by songwriter Paul Epworth's innovative ideas for the new theme.

Adele commented: "I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for 'Skyfall'. There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song.

"But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no-brainer to do it in the end."

The hotly-anticipated song was recorded at London's infamous Abbey Road Studios with the help of a 77-piece orchestra, and can first be heard on the singer's website at 0.07am on Friday morning.

Lyrics include: "Let the sky fall/ When it crumbles/ We will stand tall/ And face it all together."

Adele added: "It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I've never done, which made it exciting.

"When we recorded the strings it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I'll be backcombing my hair when I'm 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day, I'm sure."

The track has already been branded the best bond theme of the last 30 years by songwriter Ryan Tedder, who recently tweeted: "I've heard it. Best bond song in my lifetime. Hands down. Hats off once again to Paul Epworth and Adele. hope they win Oscar."

Adele follows in the footsteps of Jack White and Alicia Keys, who voiced the theme to 'Quantum Of Solace' and Chris Cornell, who provided the soundtrack to Daniel Craig's first portrayal of 007 in 'Casino Royale'.

'Skyfall' premieres on October 26.
