The four films - the director's debut work, Suzhou River, Purple Butterfly, Summer Palace and Spring Fever - and his most recent work, Love and Bruises, reveal Lou's observations of contemporary Chinese society and his perspectives on love and death. The four movies have all been nominated at international film festivals, including Cannes Film Festival and International Film Festival of Rotterdam.
The films are in Chinese with English subtitles.
