Police called to Lindsey Lohan's home

Police were called to Lindsey Lohan's home after her ankle monitoring device went off on Tuesday (31.05.11).

The troubled 'Mean Girls' actress is currently under house arrest at her property in Venice, California until June 29 and officers who visited to ensure she hadn't left the property after her monitoring unit sounded the alarm, found the star watching TV, reading scripts and posing for tabloid photographs on her rooftop patio.

Lindsay's spokesman Steve Honig told media: "They came as part of standard procedure to make sure the monitoring equipment was working properly."

The actress has been forced to wear the ankle bracelet because she is eligible to serve her sentace at home after being ordered to undertake three years probation, serve 120 days in jail and complete 480 hours of community service after taking a necklace from an upmarket boutique and breaching the terms of her 2007 probation.

Los Angeles Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said: "She is now confined to the interior premises of her home at all times."

The home detention service aims to reduce the prison population by allowing non-violent offenders to serve out their sentences in home confinement.
