Mel Gibson booked by police on battery plea

Actor Mel Gibson slipped into a Los Angeles police station late Wednesday night to be fingerprinted and photographed following his no contest plea last week for domestic battery on his ex-girlfriend.

Gibson, 55, was sentenced last Friday to three years probation, one year counseling and other punishments after pleading no contest, which is the legal equivalent of guilty in California, to hitting Oksana Grigorieva last year.

The two have been embroiled in a bitter custody battle over their infant daughter.

The "Lethal Weapon" and "Braveheart" actor and director reported to the police station on the same night his new movie, "The Beaver," debuted at a film festival in Texas.
