Embroidery with a modern twist
A unique exhibition that celebrates the dynamics of Chinese classical embroidery shows the creativity of contemporary designers who adapt these handicraft traditions to modern fashion styles.
Jointly presented by the Center of International Cultural Exchange and Artron Group, Xiu Show - 25C on Fingertips shows more than 400 pieces of furniture, clothes, shoes and other daily objects enhanced by embroidery techniques of folk artists from the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, Tibet autonomous region, and other areas boasting rich handicraft heritages.
Arton Group's Cheng Lu says "xiu" in the exhibition title means embroidery in Chinese.
He said the exhibition presents the warmth of cloth art and how treads are processed to form a piece of cloth.
Beijing's Center of International Cultural Exchange's Li Yu says 25C is the degree that people feel most comfortable and they hope to encourage more designs that make daily life pleasant and comforting.
The exhibition is held at the Center of International Cultural Exchange's exhibition space until Jan 5, 2017.
