An exhibition titled Elegance: Comfortable and Self-complacent is displaying 59 paintings by 82-year-old woman artist Su Hua-xin, celebrating her decades of devotion to ink-and-water art.
The painter from Taichung developed an interest in painting since childhood. Her passion for painting didn’t wither away after getting married and having children. She entered a community college to learn painting, encouraged by family members who appreciated Su’s artistic talent.
Su reveals excellence in painting landscapes with vibrant hues. She doesn’t limit her brushwork to a certain style or subject. Under her delicate strokes, she gives the traditional art a modern take.
The exhibition runs at the Taiwan Club in Beijing’s Qianmen commercial street until May 24.
