A program to link foreign translators and Sinologists with Chinese writers and publishers was launched in Beijing on Sept 11.
The program, Translation Project on Contemporary Chinese Literature Works, invited 24 specialists on translation and Chinese literature from various countries to Beijing, where they will attend symposiums and workshops with Chinese counterparts at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing Foreign Studies University and the People’s Literature Publishing House.
During the launch ceremony, Liang Hongying, director of the writing and research department of the China Writers Association, explained how hopefuls could apply for the program. A matchmaking session for possible cooperation on translation and publication will be held on Sept 18.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the China Writers Association, the project is part of the Visiting Program for Young Sinologists 2014, which has started on Sept 4 and lasts until Sept 20.
